Lukas Kirchmair

Lukas Kirchmair, MD, DESA/ EDRA, is a specialist in anesthesiology and intensive care. He is chairman of the Department of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care at the Community Hospital Schwaz/ Tirol (teaching hospital of the Medical Universities Innsbruck & Vienna). The department is dedicated as regional anesthesia competence center in Austria. From 2005-2010 Lukas Kirchmair received training in anesthesiology and intensive care at the Innsbruck Medical University. During residency he already developed a strong interest in the field of regional anesthesia. Several publications starting in 2000 together with the group around Stephan Kapral and Peter Marhofer marked the beginning of the ultrasound era in regional anesthesia. From 2010 to 2016 Lukas Kirchmair worked as attending anesthesiologist/ intensivist at the AUVA Trauma Center Salzburg. During this period, he focused on acute trauma care/ trauma anesthesia. In 2016 he completed his scientific work with the habilitation at the Paracelsus Medical University Salzburg. Lukas Kirchmair is lecturing nationally and internationally. Since the late 90s he is teaching at the ESRA Innsbruck cadaver workshops. He is serving for the Austrian HEMS (ÖAMTC Flugrettung) and physician in charge of the “Christophorus 4” helicopter in Reith/Kitzbühel. Since 2018 he is part of the HEMS team at the Hahnenkamm-worldcup races (“The Streif”).
